It is never too late to change.

I started drinking in high school at parties with friends. My drinking continued to get more and more out of control through the years. I considered myself a binge drinker. Although I would not drink for days or weeks at a time, when I did choose to drink, I found that I couldn't stop after one or two. This problem with alcohol has caused me problems with the law. I was convicted for a felony dui on 3-23-03. I had to serve 30 days in jail and I am still currently on probation. I completed a treatment program and have really turned my life around. I also have taken other steps in order to get my health back. I have lost over 50 pounds during the last year and instead of hitting the bottle and the bar, I head to the gym and attend church on a regular basis. I don't attend AA meetings on a regular basis, but I have learned to surround myself with friends that share my philosophies. Because of my renewed health, I was able to donate a kidney to a very dear friend of mine the day before Thanksgiving, 11-23-05. She is doing great and I know if I was still abusing myself like I had in the past, this wonderful gift to my friend would not have been possible. Thank you for allowing to share my story. It is never too late to change. Love who you are, Be strong, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
