You don't realize how bad things really are until you become sober and have to take a look at what you've done I am twenty-seven years old. I've been using drugs since I was fifteen. I thought my world was great. I was high and drunk all the time. This went on for about three years until I was arrested for forgery in 1997 and went to prison. I did twenty months in Mitchelville. I was clean for about four years. I relapsed a couple times. My last and most recent relapse I lost my two children to DHS and new I needed help. I was admitted to Women's and Children's Nov. 5th, 2004. It was there that I found a new way of life. After I completed that program I went to Hightower Place in Clinton, IA. You don't realize how bad things really are until you become sober and have to take a look at what you've done. My life was a living hell for twelve years and it would still be that way if it wasn't for all the people who came together to help me and for that I'm so very grateful. Today I have my two children back and am living a sober life.
