I have many people to thank for standing by me

I have been clean since January 29th, 2005. I am a recovery IV meth user. My problems stem from March of 2003, and was placed on probation because of it. At that time I was pregnant with my son. (I didn't use while I was pregnant.) However, I did start using again after he was about 4 months old, and from there it was all down hill. I was turned in to DHS in late January 2005, and he was taken from me after testing positive for meth and pot in February. I really felt it wasn't fair, of course I thought I could quit on my own. HA HA HA!!! I was willing to work with DHS, and even went for a drug evaluation at SEIDA, and tested clean, and was recommended to do their lowest treatment plan. I was then arrested in late February due to violating my probation, testing dirty for a UA. I spent 5 1/2 weeks in jail. I was granted a deal by my PO, who said IF I went to a 28 day treatment, I could stay out of prison. So, I did. I went to Mount Pleasant, and from there went to Bernie Lorenz in Des Moines. I was there from May till July, then went to House of Mercy in Des Moines. I received custody of my son the second day I was there, and was there from August till November of 2005. I moved out of state to be with my mom, and have full custody of my son.

DHS has since closed my case, and I achieving most of my goals. I STILL take things ONE DAY AT A TIME! I am still clean, and doing very well, but I know my triggers. I have a wonderful support system, and I know I would of NEVER made it this far with out the GRACE OF GOD! And I take great joy knowing He is always here to support me. I still have days that are bad, but for the most part, I am content, and happy. I have many people to thank for standing by me, and as I look back of my life, I am glad to be away from that horror of addiction!
