I got sober through AA and the House of Mercy

I am a recovering IV cocaine user and alcoholic. I got sober through AA and the House of Mercy in Des Moines. Today I am a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous, a mother, a taxpayer and a substance abuse counselor. 11 years ago I never thought that I was capable of being in the place I am today, but gratefully House of Mercy was there so I could keep my children with me while I did treatment at Harold Hughes Treatment Center at Des Moines General Hospital. Without either of these places being available to me, I may not be alive today to tell this story...I was on a downward spiral with no where to go but to treatment, or die in my disease.
